1. A new injection on Dominion Rd's epic Asian strip is John Yip's Vietnamese restaurant Peasant (above) at number 191.
Serving Vietnamese street food in an elegant bistro environment, chef Yip, who had been working in his uncle's Chinese restaurant in Sydney, has teamed up with head chef Willie Ngyuen, formerly of Teed St Larder and The Grove, and his brother Simon Yip in front of house.
Open for lunch and dinner serving Vietnamese favourites such as bahn mi, rice paper rolls, and delicious-sounding plates like stuffed squid, pork, chestnut, coriander, paprika oil. Are you drooling yet?
2. Greedy Guts (below), just opened at 44 Wellesley St West, and is owned by Sam Richardson and Lily Deng, previously of Dominion Rd's Cereal Killa cafe. Deng, a talented barista, is serving Atomic coffee.
