Dozens of children aged from 6 to 9 took part in the McDonald's grasshoppers junior tennis tournament held by the Wairarapa association in Masterton.
The 30 players at Saturday's event used smaller rackets on smaller courts and played at least seven matches each with the help of low pressure tennis balls.
And there was excellent support from parents, who assisted with tasks such as scoring and the sausage sizzle.
Winners of the four groups were Olly Vincent, William Vincent, Amy Bunny and Chelsea Hawkes.
Achievement certificates were awarded to Jack Lewington, Lachlan Parsons, Hunter Williams, Flynn Nicholson, Patrick Nicholson, Will Isaacs, William Smallwood, Flyn Register, Charlie Matthews, Sam Cronin, Alfie McIntosh, Hamish Thomson, Darroch George-Bodle, William Vincent, Olly Vincent, Bailey Matthews, Georgia Petrie, Hannah Petrie, Freya Lewington, Mary Parsons, Elizabeth Cohr, Hannah Cohr, Oriane Donaldson, Sophie McNab, Annie McNab, Lily Tulloch, Amy Bunny, Claudia Hawkes, Chelsea Hawkes and Molly Karam.
