A student at the Wairarapa Teen Parent Unit has achieved a personal milestone in education.
Faye Flavel, who has her 20-month-old son Leon at the Makoura Early Childhood Centre next door, has been awarded the national certificate in computing level 3, which she has been studying online with the tertiary institute UCOL Palmerston North.
Wairarapa Teen Parent Unit director Rae McKenzie said: "This is an excellent achievement in two and a half terms."
Ms Flavel has achieved her NCEA level 3 and university entrance and is planning on studying at Victoria University next year. Mrs McKenzie said Ms Flavel was an excellent role model to young parents.
