A young man was stabbed in Christchurch today during a fight involving more than eight people.
The man in his early 20s was treated at hospital for a stab wound to his side and released early this morning, police said.
People had been leaving a social function at the Hornby Soccer Club rooms at Denton Park about 1.50am, when a group of about eight men approached them.
Words were exchanged and a fight broke out, during which the victim was stabbed, police said.
Police wanted to speak to people who attended the function and those who knew anyone involved in the scuffle.
