Young Australian too heavy to box

Australia's Olympic boxing farce got worse yesterday when light flyweight Bradley Hore failed to make the 48kg weight limit and was ruled out of the Games.

Hore withdrew from the official weigh-in 10 minutes before the cut-off time when it became obvious he would not lose the extra 1kg.

"That's the end of the Olympics for him, the boy's devastated, we're devastated," said team manager Peter Rogers.

He said the 18-year-old from Sydney had grown 5 cm since qualifying in May and found it impossible to keep his weight down.
