Doctors and the Health Ministry have sorted out their differences over the introduction of a new government subsidy.
It means lower consultation fees for 18 to 24-year-olds will kick in from the start of next month.
GPs spokesman Peter Foley said they have agreed on a way for the government to collect information on doctors' fees to make sure the subsidy is being passed on.
He said concerns that the government would be meddling with the management of general practice have been addressed so doctors retain their autonomy.
Dr Foley said the two parties have also agreed to meet regularly to discuss the primary health care sector.
He said doctors are very happy that the age group will now be able to receive the new subsidy.
