Vandals' deliberate smashing of an expensive electronic scoreboard at Masterton's Memorial Park is another kick in the guts for the Wairarapa-Bush Rugby Union which has been targeted three times in two months.
The scoreboard was vandalised at the weekend and staff discovered the damage and reported it to police early Monday.
It was the third time the rugby grounds had been targeted this year.
Rugby development officer Stacey Grant said it appeared the vandals had climbed on to the scoreboard stand and kicked in the door. From there, they got behind it and stomped through the floor.
It appeared they had punched or elbowed the plastic panels in front of the lights, on which the time, points and team names were displayed.
