For Best Solo Female Artist Ladyhawke is up against Gin Wigmore and Kimbra.
In the Best Alternative Album category she faces Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Opossum.
Ladyhawke, originally Philippa Brown, was born in Masterton in 1979 into a family of musicians and attended Chanel College before moving to Wellington.
She won six New Zealand Music Awards in 2009: Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Female Solo Artist, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Best Dance/Electronica Album and International Achievement. She has also made it on to the charts in Australia and the UK with her fresh electro-pop style.
The 2012 Awards will be held on November 1 in Auckland.
