Year begins with a hiss and a roar

A Chinese Lion attracts admirers among the thousands of people who celebrated the Chinese New Year at the ASB Showgrounds in Greenlane on Saturday.

The festival and market, which the Auckland Chinese Community Centre has run for more than 20 years, featured performances, food and shopping.

The Year of the Tiger began yesterday, according to the Chinese calendar.
