Police have rescued a man from a yacht on the Waitemata Harbour, where he was having a medical emergency.
Emergency services were alerted to the man's situation at 12.15pm via a distress call from a yacht with four people on board.
Senior Sergeant Martin Paget said maritime police went out immediately on the launch Deodar 3, in tandem with the Westpac Rescue crew, doctor and paramedic to respond.
"Due to the fact the vessel had the appropriate communications device, VHF radio, our combined response was timely and efficient, ensuring the man was able to get to hospital within an hour of the call going up," Mr Paget said.
The man was taken to Auckland City Hospital and police said he was receiving the medical attention he required for his condition.
