Wright lands role in ghost series

Kiwi actress Tandi Wright has landed a role in a supernatural North American TV series.

The Nothing Trivial star was busy shooting in Canada this week ahead of her starring role in the 10-part series The Returned.

The series is a remake of French series Les Revenants (The Ghosts), which won an International Emmy award for best drama series last year.

The new series' plot pivots on a small town thrown into pandemonium when local people long presumed dead reappear.

Lost executive producer Carlton Cuse is at the helm of The Returned.

It was thought a "self-tape" helped Wright get the gig.

Many casting directors and agents now ask actors to tape themselves auditioning, which gives Kiwis seeking work overseas access to top directors.

Wright will play a character named Claire. Australian actress Sophie Lowe plays her daughter, Lena, and Mark Pellegrino, who portrayed Jacob in Lost, will play estranged husband Jack. Wright was not available for comment but friends told the Herald on Sunday she was in high spirits and they were excited about her new role.

Wright was born in Zambia to Kiwi parents and moved to New Zealand as a child.

Before playing Catherine in Nothing Trivial, Wright featured in local TV productions including Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby and Shortland Street.
