After losing part of their "extended family" at Canterbury TV during the Christchurch earthquake, pro wrestlers in Auckland are banding together to stage a benefit show for the stricken city.
Spectators at Impact Pro Wrestling's show, taking place this Saturday in Auckland, will be invited to bid for NZ wrestling memorabilia, choose participants in matches and decide who will challenge the NZ Heavyweight champion Dal Knox for his title.
Company director Daniel Burnell said IPW, whose shows are broadcast in Canterbury by CTV, was as an organisation "deeply saddened" by the loss of life in Christchurch.
"Dave Grohl was asked about his contribution to the Christchurch earthquake appeal," Burnell said via Facebook.
"All he knows how to do is play rock and roll, so that's how he is helping. This is all I know how to do, so please come along and raise some money."
