"I was beyond impressed with everything I did in the cave ... It's like taking me back in the ancient time, perhaps dinosaur time, and taking a dive into space when I get to see glowworms everywhere ... after the trip, I felt so amazing."
He was then due to head to Lake Taupo before travelling to the South Island where he will take part in a variety of activities including dolphin and whale watching, visiting Franz Josef Glacier and Christchurch, before heading to Queenstown and trying the Shotover Jet, hang gliding, bungy jumping and more.
As for his thoughts on New Zealand, he had the misconception that there would be more things to do in Australia.
"I was completely wrong," he said.
"That was the biggest reason I bought a ticket to New Zealand first ... sheep are everywhere.
"Everything I see here has brought me back to The Lord of the Rings. The landscape here is beautiful."
Mr Young is the third generation of his family that are deaf - all his siblings, parents and grandparents are deaf; his brother also has two deaf children.
He's from Austin, Texas, and growing up he had intended on being an entrepreneur or marketing specialist.
"Truth be told, I never thought of becoming a blogger in my entire life. I thought of getting rich and travelling the world, that's it."
So far, he's at least living part of that equation. He's travelled to Southeast Asia, India and throughout Europe.
Mr Young has had to overcome obstacles of his own, including being discriminated against because of his deafness.
"In my life, I've always socialised with people within my deaf community until I went to Rochester Institute of Technology [New York] and I realised how much hearing people have looked down on me.
"They all thought I was just stupid, behind in education, or what not ...
"In the end, I proved them wrong ... nothing is going to stop me."
