A man has been arrested after he phoned police following a failed bid to rob a south Auckland service station early today.
The man was located when he called police shortly after leaving the service station in Papakura, Detective Sergeant Christopher Barry said.
A knife believed to have been involved in the robbery had been seized.
Mr Barry said no one was injured during the episode and police were not seeking anyone else in connection with the offence.
A 24-year-old man would appear in Papakura District Court this morning charged with assault with intent to rob.
