World reacts to news of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's pregnancy

First she made headlines when she shot down questions about her ability to hold office if she ever got pregnant. Now she's making headlines with news that she's expecting her first baby in June.

"I'll be Prime Minister and a mum," Jacinda Ardern announced on social media on Friday morning, causing the entire country to erupt in celebration.

The BBC reports that Ardern has been flooded with support by people online, following her pregnancy announcement.

The Guardian has highlighted Ardern's fight for a woman's right to privacy regarding baby plans, shortly before she conceived baby Ardern Gayford.

BuzzFeed Australia points out that the father-to-be, keen fisherman Clarke Gayford, will be a stay-at-home dad when Ardern returns to her government duties after parental leave.

Reuters was also quick to report the news of Ardern's pregnancy, highlighting that deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters will serve as acting Prime Minister for six weeks after the baby is born.

The Financial Times has also reported on the news, also highlighting that Gayford will be a stay-at-home dad.

Bloomberg reports on Ardern's pregnancy, writing about how she knew of the pregnancy on October 13, during the talks to form the coalition government.
