Rugby's most sought-after prize, the William Webb Ellis Cup, will be on display in the Wairarapa-Bush region on March 31.
The trophy, which every All Blacks supporter fervently hopes - indeed expects - will be lifted for only the second time when the 2011 Rugby World Cup tournament draws to an end at Eden Park, Auckland, later in the year, will spend at least one hour at four different venues - Eketahuna, Masterton, Carterton and Greytown.
WBRFU community rugby manager Doug Bracewell is still in the throes of planning where the trophy will be shown but it seems likely schools in the respective areas will be utilised for that purpose.
Bracewell labelled having the Webb Ellis Cup in the region as a "big deal" because it was the ultimate prize for all the world's rugby-playing nations and this could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for locals to see it first hand.
Accompanying the trophy will be an NZRFU representative to explain its history and significance.
The All Blacks coached by Wairarapa-Bush's Sir Brian Lochore won the inaugural World Cup in 1987 with Australia triumphant in 1991 and 1999, South Africa in 1995 and 2007 and England in 2003.
