YOUTH SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR - Joseph Robertson: Robertson was selected to play for the New Zealand Tiger Turf under-18 men's hockey team to play a test series against Australia. He was also named in the New Zealand youth fives team to play in the Oceania World Cup qualifying tournament in Vanuatu. New Zealand won that event with Robertson scoring two goals in the vital 5-3 win over Australia. NZ now go forward to contest the World Cup Youth fives tournament to be held in Nanjing in August this year. Finalists: Alison Andrews-Paul, Melissa Hansen, Katie Smith.
JUNIOR SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR - Kate Sims: Sims won gold medals at the New Zealand, Wellington long course, Wellington short course and Wairarapa swimming championships, her national title coming in the 12yrs and under 200m butterfly. She was a bronze medallist in the Year 7 inter-regional cross-country, winner of the 200m at the Wellington primary schools athletic championships, and the top bowler in the Wairarapa under-15 girls cricket squad. Finalists: Mitchell Cockburn, Shane Colton, Katrina Watkins.
DISABLED SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR - Keelan Ward: Ward has starred in athletics. He won gold medals over 100m and 400m and one silver medal at the 2013 New Zealand track and field championships and gold medals in the 100m and the 4x100m relay at the New Zealand Special Olympics. Ward also became the first track athlete to set a New Zealand record on the new artificial track at Masterton's Colin Pugh Sports Bowl. Finalists: Ruby Morrison, Samantha Paku-Rimene.
ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR - Bob Wilton:Wilton is president of the Masterton Motorplex Drag Racing Club and, as such, was the main catalyst behind that club constructing a drag-racing track, which is up to the top international standards, alongside Hood Aerodrome. Wilton spent countless hours over about a decade persuading a wide group of potential sponsors to support a project, which now makes Masterton the envy of the drag-racing community. Finalists: Gail Miller, Sam Rossiter-Stead, Jill Stringer.
COACH OF THE YEAR - David Wright: Wright coached the Douglas Villa grade 13 Junior Promotion League football team which set a new standard for Wairarapa at this level. They won all 17 games in their season and were promoted to the top grade 14 competition for the 2014 season as a consequence. Wright also coached the Wairarapa College first XI girls football team which won their Wairarapa league without tasting defeat and were equal third at their tournament week in Wanganui. Finalists: Mark Harris, Anna Kitching.
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR - Robyn Prior: Prior is a long-standing president of the Masterton Swimming Club who has been heavily involved in the sport for more than 15 years. She is a member of Swimming Wairarapa's presidents committee, selector for Swimming Wellington, race secretary for the Masterton club and has officiated at various local, regional and national meets. Finalists: Andrea Lambert, Simon Roseingrave.
SENIOR SPORTS TEAM OF THE YEAR - Greytown senior men's cricket team:This team became the first Wairarapa side to earn the right to represent Central District at the national club cricket championships, where they won three games and finished a meritorious fifth. They were successful in the Umpires Cup one-day and The Rock Twenty20 competitions on the local front as well. Finalists: Greytown senior rugby side, Wairarapa-Bush Heartland rugtby squad.
YOUTH SPORTS TEAM OF THE YEAR - Wairarapa under-18 girls hockey team:This side was a star act at their national tournament, coming third despite missing several of the region's top players. They beat Wellington 5-0 in the quarters, lost to Canterbury 4-1 in the semis and then beat Wanganui in the play-off for third and fourth. Finalists: Wairarapa College first XI girls hockey, Wairarapa College first XV rugby.
JUNIOR SPORTS TEAM OF THE YEAR - Douglas Villa 13th grade football: This team went undefeated through 17 games in their Junior Promotion League competition. They became the first Wairarapa team to earn promotion to the top JPL grade, and are competing in that 14th grade competition this season. Finalists: Masterton Intermediate first XI boys football, Masterton Swimming Club 12yrs and under team.
SPORTS CLUB OF THE YEAR - Cancer Society Wairarapa Dragon Boat Club: This club is part of a worldwide movement of cancer survivors who promote hard physical repetitive exercise and healthy living to keep cancer at bay. Their membership has grown considerably over the past two years, now numbering 40 women paddlers and two men. They have made a huge impression on the water in the past 12 months, winning four gold and four silver medals at major competitions along with a host of other trophies. Finalists: Pioneer Sports Club, Red Star Squash Club.
PRIMARY SCHOOL OF THE YEAR - Whareama School:This school has a roll of just 36 pupils but have sports teams in hockey, football, mod softball, T-ball and tennis. They also encourage their pupils to take part in several sporting tournaments around the Wairarapa, and further afield. Finalists: Martinborough School, Masterton Intermediate.
COLLEGE OF THE YEAR - Solway College: Solway College had a hugely successful 2013 in line with their 4-P plan - performance, perspiration, participation and presentation. They shone in several sporting codes, including cricket, volleyball, athletics, swimming and netball and also made a big impact in Special Olympics. Finalists: Rathkeale College, Wairarapa College.
- A highlight of a function which attracted a full house of 300 people was the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement award to Masterton Rifle Club stalwart John McLaren.
