The man who died while operating machinery near Akaroa yesterday afternoon has been named as Alan John Scott.
Police have today released the name of the 70-year-old, who died after an in incident in the Le Bons Bay area just before 2.15pm. Scott was from Ohoka in the Waimakariri District.
Police believed the man was operating machinery but said yesterday that the circumstances of his death were yet to be confirmed.
WorkSafe NZ confirmed it had been advised of the death and was making initial inquiries.
