The University Students Association is welcoming changes to the rules surrounding part time work by international students.
Graduates undertaking a course worth six points under the skilled migrant category will be eligible for a six month open work permit.
The pool of people eligible to work part-time will be expanded to year 12 and 13 students. They will also be able to work 20 hours a week, five hours longer than the present rules allow.
University Students Association Co-President Camilla Belich says it is definitely a step in the right direction but there is still an urgent need for international student fees to be lowered.
