After knocking a woman from her bike with his car, Jacko Thomas Hull went to the hospital to apologise to the woman and paid $500 to repair her bike.
Appearing before Judge Ian Mill in Masterton District Court on Monday, the 21-year-old pleaded guilty to careless driving causing injury.
Prosecutor Sergeant Nick Newbery said Hull was heading south on Dixon St in heavy traffic about 5pm on March 20. Driving on the inside of a line of traffic to turn left into Russell St, his car "lurched" forward, hitting the woman who smashed into the windscreen and landed on his car, breaking her leg and wrist.
"She is having ongoing physiotherapy," he said.
When spoken to by police, Hull said "he thought he would fit the car in the gap", Mr Newbery said.
