A Dunedin crane operator was trapped for 15 minutes in the cab of his crane this morning when a power cable wrapped itself around part of the machine.
The operator, working in Fryatt Street in the harbour area, knocked the power lines while the crane was moving at 8.20am, temporarily cutting power.
Dunedin police senior sergeant Steve Aitken said the man remained in the crane cab as a precaution while the power lines were removed from the boom.
Mr Aitken said the operator was not injured and the power company had restored the power to the lines.
