KEY POINTS:
A man working on power lines near Hinds in mid Canterbury has been seriously injured in an accident.
Ambulance service St John and police said they received a report that the worker had been injured by a falling power pole shortly before 2pm.
A spokesman for St John said the man was seriously injured in the accident and was flown to Christchurch Hospital by helicopter.
A second man was reportedly injured but did not require transportation for further treatment.
