A chemical company employee who resigned after not being paid wages or holiday pay has been awarded nearly $7000 by the Employment Relations Authority (ERA).
Harvey Livschitz worked for Aakland Chemicals (Auckland) in a range of roles from September 2006 but left on November 13, 2008, when wages due and owing were not paid.
His former employers did not respond to a direction to mediation or notice of investigation and did not appear at the authority's determination.
They did not provide wage, time and holiday records requested by the ERA.
Mr Livschitz was also seeking outstanding payment of his annual leave entitlement of 14 days.
The authority determined that Aakland Chemicals owed Mr Livschitz $5784.50 (net) in unpaid wages and $1001.03 (net) in holiday pay.
Interest on the amount owing will be charged at 5 per cent from November 13, 2008, until it is paid.
Aakland Chemicals was also ordered to repay Mr Livschitz $70 for his filing fee.
