An Auckland Fish Market employee has been accused of stealing more than $375,000 of fish after allegedly giving about 30 tonnes of top quality fish to a local retailer.
Jared Roy Hanson, 32, faced two charges of theft when he appeared in Aucland District Court yesterday.
He was arrested after fish market's owner, Sanford Ltd commissioned a private investigator to look into the disappearing fish which included expensive red snapper, The Dominion Post reported.
Hanson, a Briton living in Stanmore Bay, Auckland, had worked as an auction supervisor for the fish market.
He was remanded on bail on condition he surrendered his passport, did not go within 500 metres of the fish market, and did not associate with complainants or any co-offenders.
