Work stoppages and strikes in the first half of the year cost an estimated $300,000 in lost wages and salaries.
The latest statistics show there were 17 complete strikes and a partial strikes in the year to June. They involved over 1,500 employees.
But it was less than the 30 stoppages in the same period last year involving 7,200 employees, at an estimated cost of $3.9 million in wages and salaries.
