Work is still being carried out to ensure the safety of a section of highway south of Hamilton, following a fatal rock fall on Friday.
75-year-old Heather Thompson of New Plymouth died when the car she was travelling in was hit by a falling rock, on State Highway Three, 12 kilometres south of Piopio.
Her sister had been driving the car at the time.
Traffic is still being reduced to a single lane and motorists are being advised to expect some minor delays.
It's unclear yet when the road will fully reopen.
