Work and Income recruit for employers

Employers looking for staff are offered a free recruitment service through Work and Income.

In 2013, 991 people in Wairarapa went off benefits and into jobs.

Regional Labour Market manager Toni Seanoa said they offered a range of services through RecruitMe to help including a toll-free service and an online service which was accessible "anytime, anywhere" for employers looking for staff or to list vacancies.

They identify suitable future staff, with the appropriate skills from those who are unemployed or looking for work.

Work and Income partners with industries and training organisations nationally and locally to address skill shortages, she said.

Through the service, employers are also assisted with staff training and wage subsidies.

"We provide employers with ongoing support and assistance."

They cross reference employer's needs with future workers.

"We'll search for suitable applicants straight away ... we match employer's vacancy with people who have the skills and experience."

RecruitMe also benefited the jobseeker, Ms Seanoa said.

Work brokers support them once they are employed.

"Getting a job is a great step towards independence.

"We understand that starting a new job isn't always easy; so we want to help support clients while they settle into work."
