KEY POINTS:
Fire crews are battling a large blaze in a wood trimming factory in Napier.
Wellington fire communications shift manager David Meikle said they were called to the blaze on Tyne Street in the suburb of Pandora about 5.15am.
"The 100m by 40m building was totally involved by the time we got there."
Eight appliances from Napier and Hastings were at the scene, Mr Meikle said. The site was in an industrial area and no houses were in danger.
Fire officers had contained the blaze to the building, he said.
The cause of the fire was not yet known, but fire safety officers were at the scene.
