A woman discharged without conviction over a vampire-style attack in Wellington is a "wonderful human being" who got caught up with the wrong people, her lawyer says.
Xenia Gregoriana Borichevsky, 20, was today granted a discharge without conviction after completing 200 hours community service, paying $400 reparation, writing letters of apology to the victim and the judge and making herself available for a restorative justice conference.
She had pleaded guilty in Wellington District Court earlier this year to injuring with intent to injure following the attack, in which a youth was bitten on his chest and arms on February 20 last year. He had to be hospitalised after the wounds became infected.
Borichevsky's co-offender, James Eric Orr, pleaded guilty in May to injuring with intent to injure and was sentenced to community detention, community work and ordered to pay $400 reparation.
A third co-offender, James Phillip Brooks, Brooks pleaded guilty last year to wounding with reckless disregard for the victim's safety. He was sentenced to three months' community detention, 150 hours' community work, ordered to pay $400 in reparation and given 10 months' supervision.
