KEY POINTS:
There's a fashion rule that says you can never have too many bags or shoes.
But with summer just around the corner it may be time for a clear-out and one charity has just the incentive.
Dress for Success is holding a bag and shoe drive at LynnMall Shopping Centre and Botany Town Centre this month to provide lower-income women with accessories for their work wardrobes.
It wants near-new or "gently used" shoes and bags to dress women returning to the workforce after having children, or finding a job for the first time.
Singer and television personality Tina Cross, who is fronting the campaign, said new clothes provided much-needed confidence to women who couldn't afford them otherwise.
"When they look great on the outside they feel great and it gives them so much confidence," she said.
"You take it for granted when you've been in the workforce for years but for a lot of these women getting a job is a really big deal."
Cross donated a new Guess handbag sent to her by a friend in the US.
"I've got squillions of shoes and like most women I can probably get rid of a few of them."
Everyone who donates a bag or pair of shoes goes into the draw to win a new spring wardrobe.
The bag and shoe drive is on until October 26.
Both Botany Town Centre and LynnMall Shopping Centre are official drop-off points for clothing and accessories for Dress for Success.
