Two Brazilian women and a pregnant New Zealand woman remain in Waikato Hospital following a serious head-on collision near Tongariro National Park last night.
One Brazilian woman, 24, was in a serious but stable condition in the hospital's high dependency unit, hospital spokeswoman Mary Anne Gill told NZPA this evening.
The other Brazilian woman, also 24, was in a stable condition.
They both suffered multiple fractures in the accident which happened at 11pm, 48km south of Taumarunui.
The 30-year-old pregnant woman, 30, from Raetihi, near National Park, suffered bruising and abrasions and was in a "comfortable" condition, she said.
All three were driven to Taumarunui Hospital and then transported by the Westpac Waikato air ambulance to Waikato Hospital, pilot Dan Harcourt said earlier.
