Two women found guilty of assault charges following a scuffle with Countdown staff which went viral on Youtube and Facebook are to appeal their convictions.
Cherylly Juanita Campbell, aka Tapsell, 30, who is due to give birth at the end of this month, was sentenced in the Rotorua District Court last week to 10 months' jail after being found guilty of assaulting Countdown staff Eric Alexander and Jimmy Thekkakara with a handbag and assaulting a policeman.
Cherylly Campbell was found guilty of the charges by Judge Phillip Cooper following a defended hearing in March.
During sentencing Judge Graham Hubble told Cherylly Campbell the sentence was effectively time served as she had been in custody for five months.
Cherylly Campbell has lodged an appeal in the High Court at Rotorua but a date for the hearing is still to be set.
