KEY POINTS:
A woman offered an unusual excuse in Tauranga District Court today for obstructing police.
Through her lawyer Tony Balme, Christina Dawn Rawlinson, 31, said she had curled up in a tight ball on the floor because a piercing on her upper lip had become caught in her teeth.
"She was in quite some physical distress," he said.
Mr Balme said Rawlinson admitted the charge because she accepted she was cheeky to police during a drug raid at her home and had not co-operated with them.
The incident occurred when police officers with a warrant searched her home for drugs on July 17.
Community magistrate Robyn Paterson fined Rawlinson, a solo mother, $100 plus court costs of $130.
