The family of a man who died after his partner stabbed him in the leg, today lashed out at the justice system which jailed her for three years.
Anamari Margaret Stone, 40, initially pleaded not guilty to murdering Daniel Poata, 33, but admitted a lesser charge of manslaughter during a depositions hearing in Lower Hutt District Court last month.
Stone is the sister of Steven Williams who is serving at least 17 years' jail for the 2003 murder of his stepdaughter Coral-Ellen Burrows.
Both siblings had been smoking methamphetamine, known as P, when their offences occurred.
Stone had jabbed Mr Poata with a 15cm blade because she feared he would resume an earlier violent attack on her, the High Court at Wellington was told today.
Mr Poata's family yelled "murdering whore" and "what a joke" as Justice Ron Young sentenced Stone to three years' jail.
