A woman who went to a bus stop in the early hours of the morning to meet her lover instead found his seething partner waiting.
Ngapera Annabelle Pinga, 38, from Te Puke, discovered her partner had been sending text messages to another woman, so devised a plan to get revenge. She began texting the 51-year-old woman from his phone, pretending to be him, and arranged a time for a rendezvous.
Her partner's lover showed up at the Welcome Bay bus stop at 1.45am on February 22, as planned.
Pinga showed up with her three alleged co-offenders - her daughter Lavinia Pinga, 20, from Gate Pa, Narissa Mikaere, 25, from Welcome Bay and a 16-year-old male who has name suppression.
Pinga pleaded guilty in Tauranga District Court yesterday to charges of injuring with intent to injure and aggravated robbery.
At the bus stop, Pinga yelled at the victim before punching her in the face. Pinga's daughter is then alleged to have punched her in the face and head. The two woman are then said to have kicked her while she lay on the ground and the other associates to have thrown punches and kicks.
Ngapera Pinga put the victim in a headlock while her daughter allegedly stomped on her hand to get her cellphone. About 2.30am on the same day, police visited Pinga's home and found the cellphone under a mattress in her bedroom.
The victim suffered bruising and swelling to her face and head and two black eyes.
There was internal bleeding in her left eye, causing some loss of vision.
Pinga's lawyer David Bates won bail for his client, who he said needed to make care arrangements for her three young children.
He said she also wanted to consider a restorative justice meeting with her victim.
Pinga's alleged co-offenders are due to reappear in court on Monday while Pinga will be sentenced on May 24.
