An Auckland woman is lucky to be alive after her house was shot at by gang members around lunchtime yesterday.
The 23-year-old woman was in her bedroom in a house on Kauri Rd, Whenuapai, when several shots were fired into her bedroom window.
Inspector Scott Webb said that as the woman ran to close a nearby door, two more shots were fired at the door, narrowly missing her.
Mr Webb said three or four male men pulled up to the property in three different cars before the shooting, then sped off immediately afterwards.
Witnesses told police the offenders, who had their faces covered, were gang members.
Two of the cars have been described as a black Mitsubishi Diamante and a mid-1990s dark blue Toyota Station Wagon with a grey/silver stripe around the bottom.
