Police have named the woman who died in a Christchurch motel on Sunday morning.
She was 31-year-old Anne Marie Wanhalla.
Her unexplained death at the Terra Vive Motels has been referred to the coroner and Canterbury police and Victim Support staff were working with Ms Wanhalla's family as they come to terms with their loss.
Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey said a post-mortem examination was completed yesterday afternoon and the motel room has been released back to the owners following a forensic investigation.
Police investigations on behalf of the coroner were continuing.
