North Shore police are appealing to the public to help identify the body of a woman found floating in the Waitemata Harbour yesterday morning.
A paddle boarder found the body in Chelsea Bay, between the Chelsea Sugar Refinery and the Birkenhead wharf, about 10am.
The Police Maritime Unit were called to recover the body.
A post-mortem examination was carried out this morning and police investigations are focused on identifying the body of the deceased. Police are searching through missing persons files.
Police said two pieces of distinctive jewellery were found on the body - a ring on the right hand ring finger, and a small silver cross on a chain around the neck.
Anyone who may have information that can identify the deceased female is asked to call the North Shore CIB on 09 477 5000.
