KEY POINTS:
Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a parked car in Petone, Lower Hutt, today.
Police were alerted by local Jackson Street residents who saw the woman in a car and initially thought her to be asleep.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Levy, of Lower Hutt CIB, said a post mortem examination would be held tomorrow but at this stage the death was not thought to be suspicious.
Police believed they knew who the woman was, he said, but a formal identification was yet to be made.
