The body of a woman, believed to be in her 40s, was found by a group of joggers in parkland in Wellington today.
Detective Inspector Paul Basham said the woman was discovered in a bushy area, a short distance from a main running track in Alexandra Park, Mt Victoria, at the southern end of the town belt.
"It is too early to say whether the death is suspicious. However we have a number of specialist police who are working to establish as quickly as possible what has happened,'' he said.
"We ask that any member of the public who has been in this area or who has seen anything suspicious or unusual to please contact Wellington police.''
A man who was in the area this afternoon and wouldn't explain why he was there was arrested for obstruction, for refusing to provide his details, 3 News reported.
