Woman's abduction claim false police say

A 26 year old woman has been charged following a false abduction claim, police said today.

A 26-year-old woman was found by members of the public partially clad and in a distressed state on Churchill Drive in the Wellington suburb of Wilton on Wednesday night.

She told police she had been abducted from Adelaide Road in Berhampore by two men in a black car .

Detective Brendan Mears said police were no longer appealing for information as the allegations were false.

He said the woman had been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and would appear in Wellington District Court next Wednesday.
