Hamilton police are trying to work out how two people came to be stabbed in the east of the city overnight.
Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Thornton says a 15-year-old girl was stabbed in the arm during a fight involving another group of girls near Enderly about 8:30pm.
The girl ran to a nearby house where another dispute broke out.
A 36-year-old woman who tried to break up the fight was also stabbed, receiving serious, but not life threatening, injuries to her chest.
Detective Senior Sergeant Thornton says police want to hear from anyone in the Enderly-Fairfield area who finds any suspicious objects like a knife or blood-stained clothing.
