Police have named a woman who was killed in a quad bike accident on a Northland farm on Monday.
Suzanne Claudia Ferguson, 62, from Awarua, 22km south of Kaitaia, was trapped under the bike when it rolled as she was feeding stock about 1.30pm.
Ms Ferguson was thought to be on a steep hillside when the quad bike, which was towing trailer, overturned and landed on top of her, police said.
She lay trapped under the bike until found by a family member.
Sergeant Mike Plant from Kaikohe police said earlier this week that Ms Ferguson was an experienced rider and the accident showed how even experienced people could come to grief.
"The conditions were very, very greasy and wet. We have had a lot of rain up here and I would be quite confident in saying it probably contributed to the accident.
"All the indications at this stage are that she was probably doing everything right and...a series of circumstances have led up to the thing rolling."
Police and the Labour Department are investigating.
