A woman who came off her scooter and collided with a metal guard rail on Waiheke Island yesterday is in a stable condition.
The woman was taken to Auckland City Hospital by rescue helicopter yesterday afternoon in a critical condition after hitting her head in the incident.
A hospital spokeswoman said the woman, who was in her 30s, was now stable and would be moved to a ward.
She fell off the scooter just after 2.15pm on Moa Ave in Oneroa and hit the guard rail, Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokeswoman Kerrie Spicer said.
Ambulance and helicopter staff were assisted at the scene by an off duty doctor on holiday at Oneroa.
