A woman whose car fell 60m down a blackberry-covered bank and landed upside down on a bed of rocks in Waikoau River walked away with minor scratches and a sore back.
She was taken to Hawkes Bay Hospital by St John Ambulance and was in a stable condition yesterday, a hospital spokesman said.
Truck driver Trevor Cunningham said: "This car came around the corner heading backwards. It just missed my truck and went down the bank. It was lucky that somebody saw her go down, or she could have been stuck there for a long time."
