KEY POINTS:
A search is underway today for a missing Chinese woman tramper in the Arthurs Pass region.
Inspector Warren Kemp, of the police southern communications centre, said 15 civilian and eight police search and rescue staff and a helicopter were looking for the woman who had been reported missing yesterday in the Edwards Hut area.
The search was being run by Sergeant Phil Simmonds and was based at the Department of Conservation headquarters in Arthurs Pass.
