KEY POINTS:
A woman has been swept away while trying to cross a stream in Mt Taranaki / Egmont National Park.
Inspector Michael Coleman said the 54-year-old woman was tramping with another woman when they tried to cross a stream and she was swept away.
A search and rescue operation has been launched.
