A Pahiatua woman has survived a 25m drop after her car slid off the road.
She lost control of her vehicle on Mangahao Rd, Pahiatua near Ridge Rd at about 8.30am yesterday.
Senior constable Rod Reid said: "Basically it was the slippery conditions on the road. As she came around the bend the vehicle slid out and she tried to steer straight but wasn't able to."
Trees on the slope of the hill buffered the impact and luckily the car remained upright as it slid down the slope, Mr Reid said.
The wet conditions were a contributing factor, as the woman was familiar with the road and was not travelling at speed, he said.
