An Auckland woman has suffered stomach injuries after getting caught up in a rope-swing.
The 30-year-old woman and her friends were rope-swinging into a river near Te Kaha in the Bay of Plenty when she got caught in the rope-swing, the Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter Trust said.
She suffered injuries to her lower abdomen and was taken to Te Kaha medical centre, where medics decided she needed to be transferred to hospital because of the nature of her injuries, the chopper trust said.
The helicopter was called to airlift her to Whakatane Hospital.
She was in a moderate condition at the time of the flight, the trust said.
