A woman has died after being hit by a train in Christchurch last night.
An ambulance spokesman said the accident happened at 10.20pm in the northern suburb of Belfast.
She was on foot when she was fatally struck near the Factory Road intersection.
Acting Senior Sergeant Cath Pomfrett say the 52-year-old victim was a local woman.
The train was travelling northbound at the time.
